Tony Smith

My name is Tony Smith. Anxiety and depression has been in my family for years. This dates right back to my mum, who spent many years in various institutions – including when I was aged between three and four of which time I had to live with relatives. These were my less Enlightened days (I am 61). Four months ago my youngest daughter hanged herself. So any groups like ‘Enlighten the Shadows’ can only work for good in the world, giving support to people who are silently crying out for help but don’t know where to turn.
Power to your elbows

I was at a low point with work stresses when I found the ETS group online. Knowing that I had a place to write how I was feeling really helped. I knew that even though the group members don't know me, they will be supportive and never be judgemental. The group shows that there is always someone out there who cares, even if you don't know them yet.

My name is Robin, Bi-Polar, PTSD, Anxiety and Depression are my enemies and I fight with them every single day. But having a group like this to fall back on for support is awesome. In particular this group doesn’t judge, it doesn’t ignore, and it doesn’t discriminate. They listen and help and advise. I have no parents to fall back on as they have never really been, so this place of trust is so important to people with Mental Health. I had never talked about my Mental Health online but here I was able to. Because I felt like I could be honest about it. Means a lot to a lot of people.
